It didn’t take long for the intensity to pick up in the NHL playoffs as the Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators renewed hostilities in their opener but fans expecting the same type of atmosphere on Thursday night had to be disappointed with some of the pedestrian hockey they saw. The Tampa Bay Lightning, Pittsburgh Penguins and St. Louis Blues all seemed to approach their game ones relatively tentatively and paid for it by losing and falling behind 1-0 in their respective series.
